What are you reading?

I am interested in knowing what you are reading right now?  I am trying to get my summer reading list in order :)  Please comment on this post and let me know.

  1. Hi All! I am currently trying to read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Anyone else read it? Any thoughts on it? I'm having a tough time getting into it. I think I need a large block of time to focus - and large blocks of time are just not that easy to come by right now!

  2. I belong to two book groups. For one I am reading The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe (a late 1700s Gothic romance; I am enjoying it)and for the other I am reading The Voyage by Philip Caputo. I haven't read enough to comment but he also wrote the Rumor of War about his experience in Vietnam, which I read several years ago and thought was well worth reading. I haven't read the Book Thief...

  3. I just finished reading The Family Man by Elinor Lipman. I enjoyed it but not my favorite book of hers. If you have not read Lipman, I recommend starting with the Inn at Lake Divine. I love her characters..very human and funny.
I read the Book Thief for my Book Club. I had a hard time getting into it but definitely worth reading. North Reading did this book for its Town Wide reading program this year.

  4. I highly recommend "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. The title refers to the black maids who worked in the homes of white families in the early 1960's in Mississippi. A recent college grad who wants to become a writer decides to tell their stories. The courage and fear of these women are intertwined with their humor and compassion. Good summer read and a reminder of what life was like in the South during this time period.
